Friends ask me advice on my favorite restaurants, what shoes to pair with an outfit. I’ve been told, “You make what you do look so easy” or “I don’t know how you do it all…work a crazy full time career, run a side business selling skin care, manage 3 kids and their activities, have an active duty military husband, volunteer, cook dinner, go out with your friends and party like a rock star.” How, you ask? My response is, “It’s a balance. I operate better with all these things in the air. Somehow the more I do, the more organized I stay… because I have to.” Some days, I think I can do it, other days, I swear I need a clone. What I’ve realized half way through my life is that I love what talents God has given me (I think it took me a while to figure these out), the children he has blessed me with to raise, and the challenges he gave us as married couple that have made us stronger.
During dinner at my new favorite restaurant (The Dabney) in Washington, D.C., a new aquaintence and I discussed a variety of topics over the course of the night. She mentioned that I should write a blog. I never thought of myself as a blogger but my wheels started turning. The next day, a brainstorming session took place with my blogger neighbor and I decided at 40 years old to launch a blog, Tightrope in Heels. Juggling family, fashion, food, friends and fun without all falling on my face. So here you have it.
